Mara loves to climb trees and has learned how to climb on top of the monkey bars as well as hang by her knees. She's still cautious about things at first, but she takes off once she has confidence she can do something.
She has now lost 7 teeth and is only waiting on one to come back in. It's strange seeing her with two front teeth again since she's been missing at least one for almost three years now. An eighth tooth is loose and will probably fall out in the next month or so.
Her reading, writing, and spelling are really coming along this year in first grade. She's starting to read very basic chapter books, and she is getting better with how clearly she writes and how much she puts into her stories now that she doesn't spend all of her time drawing pictures for the stories. She also continues to excel in math. She says her best friends at school are Taylor, Dannie, Savanna, and Jeremiah.
Her favorites haven't really changed much over the past year:
Favorite color: Purple (and sometimes pink)
Favorite princess: Rapunzel (Tangled) and Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
Favorite TV shows: Octonauts, Lego Ninjago
Favorite movies: Tangled, Barbie and the Mermaid Tale (1 and 2), The Little Mermaid
Favorite singers: Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber
Favorite songs: "Naturally" by Selena Gomez, "You Belong with Me" by Taylor Swift, "I See the Light" from Tangled (same as last year)
Favorite activities: Playing Skylanders on the Xbox, going to Girl Scouts, playing with friends, swimming, playing on the computer (especially Plants vs. Zombies and Club Penguin)
Favorite subject in school: Art, math
Favorite animals: Whales, any type of sea life, giraffes, cats
