Service Unit Campout

Friday, April 27
The other troop leader, Laura, and I took our troop on their first service unit camp out this weekend. I had four girls in my van, and Laura took the other three. The girls stayed in cabins at the Cleburne State Park while we slept right outside the door. When we got there, the girls picked their bunks, and then we went to make some stained glass crafts.

Saturday, April 28
We started off the day with our troop performing the flag ceremony for the service unit. The girls then made walking sticks and learned different ways to make fire. After a nap, we spent the afternoon at the lake, and then we had a campfire that evening. The girls were exhausted by the end of the day.

Sunday, April 29
We took the troop on a mile hike this morning before breaking camp. The girls got to try out the walking sticks they made the day before.

Trying New Things

Monday, April 23

While I was at the monthly Girl Scout leadership meeting tonight, Mara and John worked on putting together some more of her Lego Friends sets.

Tuesday, April 24

Jack has been showing an interest in the potty recently, but it wasn't until tonight that he actually did something in the potty.

Wednesday, April 25

I picked up some new sandals this week, and they are so comfortable, which is good since we plan on going to the zoo and doing a lot of walking this summer.

Thursday, April 26

We got shirts for our troop to wear for special occasions, such as during our camping trip this weekend. All of the girls' shirts have their names on them, while mine and Laura's say "Leader."

Confirmation Weekend

Saturday, April 21

This was a busy weekend with both Lori and Ben being confirmed and becoming a member of the United Methodist Church. We started off the day treating the girls to a pedicure and manicure. That evening, we went to church to see Lori's confirmation. Afterward, we went to dinner and then celebrated Lani's birthday.

Sunday, April 22

Today, we went down to Fort Worth to see Ben's confirmation. When we were back at Rob & Mindy's Jack spent a lot of time playing with the dogs, including getting in their kennels with them.

Traditions

Monday, April 16

Jack is just like his sister and loves his "cloths." While we hope he will give up his pacifier soon, we have the feeling he will keep a hold on the cloths for a while.

Tuesday, April 17

Today is Tax Day, and Sonic was having an all-day Happy Hour. So, we decided to go there for dinner, and we ate at the tables outside there.

Mara brought home a book she made about Texas. It's cute to see the way she writes and draws as she nears the end of first grade.

Friday, April 20

We have recently started letting Jack have chocolate milk when we eat out. He was so excited when we ordered it for him at dinner tonight.

Green Belt

John has progressed far enough in kung fu that he was awarded his green belt tonight. In addition to getting a green belt, he now gets to wear a black gi. After the class, Jack showed off his kung fu moves, and he actually performed a pretty good base eight stance.
