Birthday Celebrations

Monday, July 23

When we toured the World of Coke in Atlanta, we each got a special bottle of Coke. Mara has been begging us to let her drink hers, and we finally broke down and let her have it tonight.

Tuesday, July 24

See today's post here.

Wednesday, July 25

Jack's having a really rough time cutting his last two 2-year molars. He was so tired tonight that he had a hard time staying awake, and when he was awake, he just lounged around.

Thursday, July 26

It's nice to see how much Mara and Jack love each other. While they do bicker and pick on each other, there are moments like this that just make your heart melt.

Friday, July 27

See today's post here.

Saturday, July 28

We celebrated John's dad and sister's birthday today. The kids had fun playing games on Mara's computer, and we all enjoyed working on a puzzle we got at the World of Coke and gave to John's dad. It was a nice, relaxing Saturday. Even Jack helped us with the puzzle.

Sunday, July 29

Jack enjoyed an ice cream sandwich while we watched the Olympics.

Go 'Riders!

We went to the RoughRiders game with John's work tonight. Mara had been asking to go to a game so she could see the fireworks (they have them every Friday home game), so she was ecstatic about tonight's game.  We even got free hats and fans that show LED messages.

Groundbreaking

The company I work for broke ground on its new complex, which is set to open next summer. We are more than ready to move into it because we are pretty crowded in our current building. Not only that, but the new location cuts my commute pretty much in half (from 25-30 minutes to 10-15). They even gave us something to commemorate the event.

Potty Training Time

Even though John and I aren't ready, it's looks like Jack is more than ready to start potty training.

Jack walked into the living room without a diaper on and holding up his hands saying, "I'm poopy." I take a closer look, and he has poop all over his hands. (Sorry, no pictures. ☺) Not knowing if he pooped in his diaper or the potty, I called John in to help me so one of us could keep him from touching anything while we figured out what was going on.

Come to find out, he had pooped in his diaper, but he had taken it off so he could pee in his potty. I guess we can't keep putting off this potty training. While I dread potty training, it will make things much easier when he is out of diapers.

Bear in the Big Blue House

Monday, July 16

Twenty years ago today, I fell while walking on my way home from a baby-sitting job and broke my leg. I did such a good job of breaking it that I had three surgeries (on the outside of my leg, only one on the inside, which is why it looks so much better). I even still have eight screws and a plate still in my ankle. It's hard to believe that so much time has past.

Tuesday, July 17

Mara has been watching Disney XD, and as a result, she's been seeing a lot of commercials. She's been asking for the taco bowls, but we decided to use the taco salad shells we've been using for years. Mara loved the salad portion but not the shell, so we might have to figure out a way to make her a shell with just tortillas. I topped my salad with our homemade salsa, while Mara preferred taco sauce with tomatoes on the side.

Wednesday, July 18

Jack loves the Imaginext super heroes we got for him to play with during our road trip. He plays with them quite a bit.

Thursday, July 19

When we were at Mike & Myra's for swimming last weekend, Jack discovered a Bear in the Big Blue House towel, which lead to Lori giving him one of her stuffed Bears. He finally sat down to watch the TV show with Bear tonight.

Friday, July 20

Lori found some more Bear items tonight, and I couldn't help but get a picture of the two Bear lovers together.

Saturday, July 21

Mara went to a birthday party today for one of her friends at daycare. She had a lot of fun playing with the gymnastics equipment.

Sunday, July 22

Mara went ice skating with her friend Savanna this afternoon.

Back to our Summer Schedule

Sunday, July 8

Jack decided to try to draw around his hand on a piece of paper today, but the marker went more on his hand instead of the paper.

Monday, July 9

Today was Mara's last gymnastics class. She enjoyed it so much that I went ahead and enrolled her for the next 4-week session that starts on the 23rd.

Tuesday, July 10

Jack still uses a pacifier, but he tends to more play with them or chew on them rather than suck on them. He even likes to put two in his mouth at once.

Wednesday, July 11

Pixie is our quiet kitty, but she loves attention on her own terms. She looks a lot like Brownie, but the coloring on her chin is cream instead of white.

Thursday, July 12

Mara has been asking for a foot bath ever since we got back from our trip, so I indulged her tonight. We just filled up a tub with warm water and Epsom salt, and it felt so good. Jack even wanted to participate in the bath.

Friday, July 13

My dad had to go to the hospital today to have some fluid drained from his chest cavity today. After the long day, my sister, Diane, ordered a margarita with dinner. I tried it, and it just confirmed that I still don't like alcohol.

Saturday, July 14

Lani stayed the night with us last night, so she joined us when we went to Sam's today. Mara wore a shirt that she got on our trip that becomes a colored picture in sunlight. Storms kind of messed with our swimming plans for this evening, but we got a beautiful rainbow from them. Besides, we were able to get back in the pool after the storms moved through.

Sunday, July 15

We tried the Hidden Valley Italian dressing when we grilled chicken for dinner today. It was yummy!
