Play Time & Rewards

Monday, April 25

While I went to a meeting, John took the kids to the park this evening to let them play.

Tuesday, April 26

Since the Easter Bunny had to make his delivery in the dark last weekend, he ended up forgetting to leave one of Jack's presents. So, Jack received his Chuggington train set tonight. He and Mara played with them until it was time to go to bed.

Wednesday, April 27

John grilled hamburgers for dinner tonight while Mara and Jack played on the swing set. John let Jack crawl around in the fort, and then Jack had fun going down the slide with his big sister.

Thursday, April 28

At Girl Scouts tonight, we made books that contained the flowers we are learning about along with the Girl Scout Law. Hopefully these books will encourage the girls to learn more about the law, and maybe I'll finally pick it up too. :)

Friday, April 29

Mara has been having a really good time at school recently, coming home with a lot of purples (the best they can get). John took her to Sonic after school today to get a grape slush during happy hour as a reward. At dinner, Jack showed us that he now knows how to make a fish face and kept making it after every bite.

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny left baskets of goodies for the kids. Mara was excited about her Zoobles and Squinkies, while Jack got a stuffed Lightning McQueen and some clothes. Mara gathered eggs that were left around our living room. I'm not sure how the Easter Bunny did it, though, since we were without power for part of the night. The kids even cooperated for a couple of pictures together.

Birthday celebrations

Lani had her 7th birthday party at Build-a-Bear Workshop today. Mara made the Wizards of Waverly Place bear because it combined a couple of her favorite things – it was purple and had Selena Gomez on its foot. Aunt Diannie bought Jack a bear too.

Mara took a turn blowing out Lani's candles since I didn't end up getting any pictures of her blowing out her own candles.

Later that night, the kids dyed Easter eggs. Mara dyed a dozen for herself, and then we dyed a dozen for Jack.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Monday, April 18

Mara has been wanting to get a rinse for her mouth, and we finally picked one up for her. I don't think it was quite what she was expecting, but she thought it was neat to have anyway.

Tuesday, April 19

We played the Mouse Trap game that Mara got for her birthday tonight. Jack got really excited each time we set the trap.

Wednesday, April 20

We looked out in our backyard today and saw a bunny. How appropriate for the week leading up to Easter!

Thursday, April 21

Today was Jack's last day at his daycare until John gets a job. They also had an Easter egg hunt, but Jack didn't want to cooperate for pictures.

Friday, April 22

Mara and Lani stayed at Diane's house tonight. They wore the new nightgowns that she got for them that day.

Go climb a tree!

Mara discovered this afternoon that she can climb the trees in our front yard. She spent quite a while out in the tree, and she can get up pretty high.

End-of-Year Choir Celebration

Today was a busy day. Mara performed with the children's choir this morning at church and again at the end of year celebration this evening. In between the two performances, we went to an Easter egg hunt.

After participating in the palm processional, the kids sang "Hosanna in the Highest" with the adult choir.

Mara and Lani did the egg hunt together in their age group. Because it was so windy, they went through the eggs in Mike & Myra's trunk.

That evening, the children's choirs sang all of the songs they've performed all year and added a new one – "We Are Blessed."

Here's Mara with her main choir teacher, Ms. Tracy.
