Saying Good-bye to 2010

Monday, December 27

Mara was sick during the night, but luckily it was a quick stomach bugs and she was well enough to go see Yogi Bear with Lori, Mikey, Lani, Diane, Mike, my dad, and me. Lani had to make sure to refill her popcorn before we left.

Wednesday, December 29

We went to my dad's house to watch OSU play in the Alamo Bowl. Since it was warmer, I dressed Jack up in an OSU basketball outfit we picked up for him while we were in Oklahoma earlier this year. He had a lot of fun playing and crawling all over the place.

Thursday, December 30

While Mara was spending the day at Granddad's, Jack discovered the joy of a big box. He had a lot of fun playing in it and being a "Jack in the box."

Friday, December 31

Mara started asking this week if we could go to Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast, so we figured that would be a nice way to start off the last day of 2010. Both Mara and Jack really enjoyed their donuts.

2010 Christmas Cards

I thought I was way ahead of the Christmas rush, and then December happened. As a result of the busyness we've had this month, I'm even further behind on our Christmas cards than usual. That's sad considering most years we're lucky to get them in the mail by Christmas.

So, here I sit the week after Christmas having finally finished our cards. Since I am so late, I'm not going to be mailing many cards out this year. And without further ado, here's our card for 2010.

Now, I just need to create our newsletter to mail with the cards...

Jack's 9-month Appointment

I postponed Jack's 9-month appointment by a couple of weeks so I wouldn't have to worry about taking off from work to take him. His weight is a little down since he has been sick recently, but he's otherwise fine. He also didn't talk as much as he usually does since he's coming down with a cold, but he still didn't really put up a fight during the examination. He really didn't like having his blood drawn for lead and anemia testing, but he quickly calmed down when it was over. Now his next appointment isn't until after his first birthday. Where has the time gone?

His nine-month stats:

Height/Length: 29.75 inches long (90)
Weight: 18 pounds, 7 ounces (20)
Head Circumference: 18.25 inches (80)

Family Christmases

Saturday, December 25

After opening presents at our house, we went to Mike & Myra's to celebrate Christmas again. Mara and Jack enjoyed opening their presents and playing with everyone.

Sunday, December 26

We spent today with John's family. After enjoying good food and conversation, we finally took our first family picture since Jack was born.

A Visit from Santa

Mara was really excited about Santa's visit this year. On Christmas Eve, she and Jack opened up their PJs and then set cookies out for Santa before going to bed.

Santa was really good to the kids this year, bringing Pillow Pets, a rocking chair for Jack, and a bed for Mara's American Girl doll among a bunch of other things. Mara received everything on her list for Santa. The only downside to the morning was that we had to keep changing Jack's clothes because he wasn't feeling well. He ended up falling asleep on John for a little bit while Mara opened her presents, and then he was ready to open his presents.
