Thundering Along

Tuesday, May 29

I had to stop by the store on my way home, and I ended up picking up some new PJs for the kids. Jack got some Batman ones while Mara's were Angry Bird Space.

Wednesday, May 30

There were a bunch of storms rolling through the area today, and they made some pretty strange cloud formations.

Thursday, May 31

The last day of school is tomorrow, and Mara has been working on her teacher's present. We're giving her a frame that Mara decorated that includes a picture of her and her teacher along with a Kohl's gift card.

Another year, another birthday

Saturday, May 26

My sister Diane's cat Manny went missing 10 days ago. We were getting ready to leave her house tonight when she got a phone call saying they thought they might have her cat based on a posting on the HOA website. We went to go check it out, and it was him. The family that had him was just a block over and a block down. We are very thankful she got him back, and Jack was especially happy.

Sunday, May 27

We went back to Diane's house today for my birthday dinner and to celebrate Memorial Day. Mara helped pick out my cookie cake. :) After the celebration, we took the kids to the splash park for a little bit to play.

Monday, May 28

We went to Cotton Patch for dinner tonight because they were having a special on their chicken fried steak, chicken, and pork chops. Diane and Daddy also gave me their presents, which included several pairs of earrings and items for my charm bracelet.

Field Day

I volunteered to help out for field day at Mara's school for the second year in a row. This year, they had shirts made for the day. Volunteers get a 30-minute break during the activities when our circle doesn't have a grade level, so I got to go around with Mara to some of the activities. After my break, the first graders came to my circle where I was helping with the Spanish ladder ball game.

Bridging to Brownies

Tonight was a big night for Mara. She finally became a Brownie Girl Scout. This is something she's wanted since she joined Girl Scouts because she thought that Brownies got to eat brownies (her favorite dessert). We had the ceremony at a local park and used the bridge there. I'm really looking forward to the girls being Brownies because it means we have the opportunity to do a lot more things and have even more fun.

Talent Show

Our Girl Scout troop has been working hard creating and practicing a dance during our meetings. Today, they finally got to perform it for the school talent show. It was a fun performance, and the girls did pretty well for not having practiced for two weeks. I didn't take a video, but I'll try to upload one when I get a copy.

When the Light Go Out

Tuesday, May 22

We had an unplanned dinner out at Chicken Express tonight because our house didn't have any power when we got home. Not sure what happened, but our entire neighborhood was without electricity for anywhere from one to four hours.

Wednesday, May 23

I've been busy ironing all of the patches onto Mara's Daisy and Brownie uniforms in preparation for her Brownie bridging ceremony tomorrow night. Her Daisy uniform is quite full, but she'll be receiving a few more tomorrow night that we'll have to squeeze on somewhere. :)
