Another week

Monday, February 21

For the second Monday in a row, there was an awesome sunset in our area. The sun went down too quickly for me to get a good picture last week, but I captured this week's with no problem.

Tuesday, February 22

When we eat in the family room, Jack uses his rocking chair. We won't be able to do that for too much longer, though, because he's figured out how to slide out of the chair to stand up.

Wednesday, February 23

Surprisingly, it's been a while since we've had spaghetti, so Jack had his first go at it tonight. He wasn't too sure what to think of the pasta, but at least he finally figured out it was food.

Thursday, February 24

Since Jack has been the subject for the last two days, we had to take a picture of Mara tonight when she was being silly while eating ice cream.

Friday, February 25

We rented Megamind and watched it tonight. The kids settled down with their blankets and pillows to watch the movie.

Saturday, February 26

Mara and I went out and delivered Girl Scout cookies around the neighborhood this morning. She started off strong and even pulled the wagon some, but she gave up and ended up riding in the wagon before we were done.

Sunday, February 27

Jack is finally crawling on his hands and knees and tried out his newfound skills at the play area of a local mall. He really loved going through the tunnel.

This Little Light of Mine

Mara sang a version of "This Little Light of Mine" with the children's choir at church this morning, and Jack finally got to wear his suit.

Here is a video of the choir singing.

World Thinking Day 2011

As I've mentioned before, World Thinking Day is a big day for Girl Scouts. It's actually February 22, but our service unit celebrated it today with a big event. The girls (and the adults too) spent a lot of time creating the costumes, goods, swaps, and booth. Our hard work paid off as the girl won the award for best costume, and we were in the running for the booth award too.

Mara represented our troop and carried the Mexican flag during the opening ceremonies. The girls were fading by the time the event was over, but I think everyone had fun.

ETA: Here is the video of Mara carrying in the flag for the opening ceremony.

Happy Valentine's Day 2011!

Monday, February 14

John had to work, but I was able to go to Mara's Valentine's Day party at school this morning. Jack had to go with me, but Mara didn't mind. That night, we went through her goodies while she enjoyed her Ring Pop.

Tuesday, February 15

The girls worked hard and earned all of their Daisy petals in time for World Thinking Day this weekend, and I got all of Mara's ironed on. They also created little "swaps" that represent our World Thinking Day country (Mexico) to sell to and exchange with other Girl Scouts.

Wednesday, February 16

Jack was a little fussy this morning while I was getting ready. He would calm down if I went in and patted his back. After a while, I realized that I hadn't heard him, and this is what I found when I checked on him. I guess he thought Daddy's pillow was pretty comfy.

Thursday, February 17

Tonight was our last troop meeting before World Thinking Day, so the girls tried on their costumes. They are wearing the hats they finished up last week along with the skirts our troop leader made and shawls from cut up tablecloths.

Friday, February 18

We picked up our Girl Scout cookies last night and started delivering them today. Mara met her goal of 225 boxes thanks to the extras we bought to boost her to that goal. I don't think we'll have any problem getting rid of the extras, though.

Weather Roller Coaster

Monday, February 7

John and I spend most Monday nights watching Castle after the kids are asleep. We highly recommend the show. It's fun and not overly dramatic – a good way to end the first day of the week.

Tuesday, February 8

We have discovered that broccoli is one of Jack's favorite foods. He especially liked it with cheese just like his sister.

Wednesday, February 9

See Wednesday's post here.

Thursday, February 10

Every year, the Girl Scouts celebrate World Thinking Day, and our troop decided to learn about Mexico as part of it. The girls made to wear at the event we're going to on February 19. We made them out of newspaper last Saturday and spray painted them, and the girls decorated them at our meeting tonight.

Friday, February 11

See Friday's post here.

Saturday, February 12

We spent today with John's family. Jack liked Grandpa feeding him – especially dessert. Later, all of the kids posed for a picture together.

Sunday, February 13

Schools were closed again this past Wednesday because of snow and ice, but the temperatures were back up to 70 degrees today. We took advantage of the weather and went to the park before Mara's choir practice, and we finally figured out why Jack likes to swing so much – he likes the feel of the wind in his hair. :)

We have a new tooth!

Finally! We finally had to have Mara come over to get Jack laughing so we could finally capture his new tooth in pictures. That top left tooth is still just a line in the gums, but it has finally broken through.
