Jack's Big Boy Bed

We finally got around to getting Jack's big boy bed. We decided to put the mattress and box springs on the ground for now until he is used to it, and then we'll use Robert's old bed for a while.

We've been having issues getting him to sleep at night, so we hope that this helps solve that problem.

Would you like some pepper?

Monday, September 24

As Mara likes to say, Doxy is our youngest but biggest kitty. She loves to be petted, but will definitely let you know if she doesn't want to be bothered.

Tuesday, September 25

John and I have been catching up on reruns of Lois & Clark the last couple of months.

Wednesday, September 26

Jack had his school picture taken today. Apparently, he wouldn't cooperate and refused to sit up for the picture. At least he wasn't crying this year. ☺

Thursday, September 27

Mara loves tomatoes and has been wanting to eat them a lot recently – with salt and pepper on them. For tonight's dinner, she had grilled chicken, salad (with croutons), and tomatoes with salt and pepper. It made for a very colorful plate.

Friday, September 28

We went to Arby's after soccer practice tonight, and the kids were a little overzealous when getting the salt and pepper. Guess Mara will now have plenty of salt and pepper to take in her lunch for tomatoes. ☺

After the girls' soccer game, we went back to cheer on OSU as they played Texas. Sadly, OSU lost, but it was still a good game. Jack also worked on perfecting his "Go Pokes!" (He still needs to learn how to get his thumb up.)

Camping, Horseback Riding, & Balloons

Saturday, September 22
We headed out for our annual fall camping trip today. Almost all of the Brownies attended, and it was our first one without the parents along. The girls help start our fire and we ate lunch before going swimming at the lake. Then, after cleaning up, they helped with dinner, and we finished the night making s'mores.

Sunday, September 23
Before we left camp, we went on a nature hike to find all different kinds of bugs. Surprisingly, we had a hard time finding many bugs.

The highlight of the trip was our horseback riding lesson, and the girls were all excited to go. It was the first time for many of them, but they worked hard selling cookies earlier in the year to make it possible. The even got to brush and feed the horses.

We made it home and showered in time to go pick up some dinner from Chicken Express and watch the final balloon liftoff from the local balloon festival.

Going Green

Wednesday, September 19

I attended a city luncheon today where our Girl Scout service unit received honorable mention for a non-profit organization because we cleaned up the parks last year. If they had divided the category into youth and adult organizations, I know we would have won the award. Today was also the first Wendy's night of the school year where Mara got a Where's Waldo guessing game.

Thursday, September 20

Jack loves super heroes, so he has several shirts and pajamas with super heroes on them. Tonight, he wore his Superman PJs to bed.

Friday, September 21

Even though Mara won't be able to make tomorrow's soccer game (we're going camping with Girl Scouts), she attended tonight's practice. Jack had fun rolling Lori's soccer ball down the hill and playing on the playground while Mara practiced.

Happy Birthday, John!

We celebrated John's birthday today by going to BJ's so he could get his free pizzookie (pizza cookie topped with ice cream). He really liked the singing cheeseburger card I got for him in honor of his birthday and National Cheeseburger Day.
