Camping Trip

While Daisies aren't allowed to go camping as a troop, a few of us moms (and one dad) decided to take their girls camping together to see how well it will go when we are able to officially go camping. We originally wanted to go to Dinosaur Valley, but it was booked. So, we made reservations at Eisenhower State Park, but then the weather forecast called for severe weather both days. We decided to head south to get away from the bad weather. Inks Lake filled its last campsite just 20 minutes before we got there, so we ended up staying just a few miles away at Black Rock Park.

The girls had a lot of fun camping. We pitched our tents, and the girls went swimming in Lake Buchanan, which is part of the Colorado River. There was a burn ban, but we got a propane stove to grill our dinner, and then we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores while telling stories. Then, the girls watched a movie before going to bed.

Sunday morning, we tried to take a tour of Longhorn Cavern, but we just missed a tour and didn't want to wait around for the next one. Instead, we grabbed some lunch and headed back home. I know that Mara had a lot of fun, and I think the other girls did too.
