Mara keeps asking us if it's still summer, and with as hot as it's been recently, it's hard to explain to her how it isn't technically summer until next Sunday. In the meantime, we've been enjoying several summertime activities.
Tuesday, June 9
Today Mara discovered the splash area outside the aquatic center where she has her swimming lessons. Several kids from her swimming class joined her playing out in the water.
Wednesday, June 10
After we got home from Mara's swimming lessons, some pretty bad storms hit the area, even knocking out power at my work for more than 36 hours. The sirens went off a couple of times, but there wasn't really anything except for a lot of rain and some strong winds.
Thursday, June 11
It doesn't look like we're going to get power back at my work anytime soon. Another round of storms are coming through the area, and it's really starting to flood down in Dallas.
Friday, June 12
Since power was still out at my work this morning (it came back on around 9:30), I decided to tag along on Mara's class field trip to the park. They had a lot of fun playing on the playground and then having a picnic lunch.
Saturday, June 13
Today was the day of birthday parties. We attended two different parties for five different birthdays. We celebrated the first birthday of our friends Melissa and Wes' twin girls, Gracie and Lizzie. Then, we went to Rob and Mindy's to celebrate Mindy, Gracie, and Ben's birthdays. Happy birthday to all of you!
Sunday, June 14
Today, we finally got out Mara's Ariel pool that we picked up at the end of last summer. It isn't nearly deep enough to try swimming in, but she had a lot of fun splashing around in it.
