We celebrated Lori's birthday with dinner at a hibachi restaurant. Mara had never been to one before and was scared of the fire at first.

We met Shari and David for dinner tonight. After dinner, Mara showed Allie her DS, and then we tried to get a picture of the three kids together. Talk about interesting! At least the people inside the restaurant got a good laugh too when they saw Shari and I trying to get the kids to all smile at the same time.

Both Mara and Jack love M&Ms. I gave the kids some tonight for dessert, and Jack spread them out on the ground before eating them.
Friday, July 1
We took the kids swimming tonight. It was really the first time Jack had been in a big pool (aside from the 5-10 minutes he spent in one last year), and he loved it. We spent the first part in the little kiddie pool, but then he decided he wanted to try out the big pool. He did a pretty good job learning how to float too. The only problem was that I pulled him out to dry off before the other kids got out, and he kept crawling and trying to get back into the pool. On top of all of that, he also got to ride forward facing since we took Mike & Myra's van. He wasn't too sure what to think of that. :)
The kids built coasters at the Home Depot Kids Workshop this morning, and we went to Frisco's Freedom Fest that afternoon to watch Lori and Lani twirl. We went back that evening to watch the fireworks. It was nice to see the fireworks earlier in the weekend since the Fourth is on a Monday and we all have to go to work/daycare on Tuesday.
Sunday, July 3
We spent today with John's parents. We went out for snow cones, and Mara picked a rainbow one. Jack discovered he could open the doors on one of the cabinets at their house, so he spent most of his time playing with the doors instead of his toys.
